10 of the Best Places for a Cheeky Pint in London

Obviously if beer/cider/lager isn’t your drink of choice you could always have a mixed drink, whiskey or wine!  Here are a few places in (my opinion) that are great to have a quick drink after work with a nice view or to spend the whole night drinking and dancing – whatever your preference is.

bars

  1. The Shard
The Shard is the tallest building in the EU and although it is thirty pounds or more to get a view from the top, it is (technically) free if you choose to go to one of the bars on the lower floors and grab a drink instead.  The bars provide a beautiful view of Tower Bridge and most of London – but make sure you are wearing dress shoes or you won’t be allowed in.

  2. Duck & Waffle
This is a restaurant located in the heron tower above sushi samba, I do not believe it requires any dress code ( I wore converse and they allowed me in)  it’s a good place to grab a beer and provides a very up close and high view near the Gerkin.

  3. Madison
This is the bar right across from St. Paul’s Cathedral I mentioned in another post.  There are two parts to the bar – one for more formal attire and the other for anyone and everyone!  It provides an amazing view and is a great place to go and watch the sunset while enjoying a drink.

  4. World’s End
This is located in Camden, it is a huge bar that is connected to the Underworld a venue/pub – The Underworld was definitely more my style and no matter what time of day you choose to visit both parts of this huge building provide an interesting atmosphere for a drink and you will definitely want to walk around and explore both World’s End and Underworld.
  5. Shoreditch
I am not going to bother naming all of the bars in Shoreditch because the area as a whole always provides a great time – plus I have been to so many places in Shoreditch in a single night that I can not remember most of them (oops).  But if you are looking for a fun night out and not sure where to go Shoreditch is the answer.

  6.  KoKo
Koko is a concert venue and nightclub located in Camden, it has an amazing history and used to be a theater – The Clash performed here in 1978! It is HUGE and will definitely provide a good time if you’re looking for a night out.

  7.  Mahiki
Mahiki is a cocktail bar and club located off Dover street, it has a tropical theme and serves tropical mixed drinks which are really fun and delicious!  “Smart dress” is recommended if you want to be allowed in.

  8.  Libertine
This is another night club in London located near Oxford Circus – make sure to dress smart, this club can be quite selective with who they allow in, it has been known to host a lot of celebrities.  It is a smaller club, but I have had some of my favorite nights out here!
  9.  Cellar Door
This is a 1920’s speakeasy themed pub – perfect for grabbing a pint after work or on a Friday night!  I unfortunately did not have the pleasure of visiting but I have heard from several people that it is a really cool and interesting place.
  10. The Globe
The Globe is a pub located right across from the Baker Street Tube Station.  I included it in this list because not only does it serve traditional English Cuisine and is a great place to grab a pint of beer (it is also very popular with tourists AND…) on Football fans!  Whenever there is a match this pub is packed early in the morning!  I recommend you wake up early and join in on the fun!

*Honorable mention: O’Neils Pub,   Cafe Paris
