In February of 2014 (I know! Almost 2 years ago now, crazy!) I went on a two day road trip from London, England to York, England with my study abroad group CEA. A large group of my colleagues and myself climbed aboard a coach bus to York accompanied by our CEA leader and a tour guide. The bus ride, I imagine was amusing, but sadly I cannot remember much of it due to it being so long ago. The first place we visited was Medieval Labyrinth, which was built on the foundations of Roman ruins and Viking settlements. We toured York Minster, I remember being able to explore on our own, the friends I was with went to a cute little cupcake and tea shop, Crumbs. It was an adorable little spot! After a little more exploring we had to re-group with everyone, and then were taken to our hostel, Ace, who’s rooms are supposedly haunted! I did not know that York is one of the most haunted cities in the world 😉 The hostel was nice, nothing amazing but it had everything you need. We changed in the hostel before heading out for dinner (which I can’t remember where we ate) and drinks at Gibsons, you get two drinks for five pounds and they played awesome music. Later that night we went back to the hostel and a large group of us shared some stories and laughs before heading to bed.
The next morning we woke up early and boarded the coach headed to the Fountains Abbey, in Yorkshire Dales National Park. This area was so beautiful! We spent a few hours walking around and exploring the area and ruins. There was a small coffee shop in the area so we grabbed a coffee as well.
We then traveled towards Haworth, a Victorian town, which was home of the Bronte sisters. We explored the town, ate here, the best place to eat here is the Cookhouse, and then we toured the church where I believe one of the Bronte’s is buried. We left here and started our journey back to London.

York was interesting and our trip served as a very cute little journey someplace that was so different from the hustle and bustle of London’s busy city life. If you have the time while staying in London or want a little trip to the “countryside” then take a quick trip to York for the weekend!
