Anyone can google what sites they would like to see when traveling Europe, and chances are you will always get a list of the same places: The Eiffel Tower, the colosseum, Big Ben… So I have decided to make an interesting and fun list of some places that you should add to your list if they’re not already on there – and I’ve kept it short so that if you are visiting for only a few days you can at least knock out a few big sites. Sorry, I am being lazy so I will update this more over the next few weeks when I find time between work.
*The City: Paris
1. Things you should see: The Louve, The Eiffel Tower, The Arc de Triumph, Sacre Cour, Notre Dame
But ALSO: Disney Land! Lauderee, The Moulin Rouge, go to the paris royal gardens, THE CATACOMBS, put a lock on love lock bridge and be despised by the locals – yolo, attend a wine tasting, I love paris I am content with just buying a baguette and cheap bottle of wine and sitting by the eiffel tower
*The City: Amsterdam
2. Things you should see: The Red Light District, Anne Frank Haus, the Amsterdam Sign
but ALSO: The Van Gogh Museum, the sex museum, the Heineken Brewery, rent a bike and check out the tulips like a local
*The city: London
3. Things you should see: Big Ben, London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey
but ALSO: Regent’s Park, CAMDEN Market – camden is a very eclectic part of london – I used to work here and it is by far my favorite place ever, Kew Gardens, Have tea in Harrods, and a greasy English Breakfast in a shifty restaurant, visit the London aquarium and the Tate Modern, St. Paul’s Cathedral ! ! ! !
*The City: Split, Croatia
4. Things you should see: Plitvice National Park, Diocletian’s Palace, Marjan
but ALSO: Froggyland, Krka National Park, Old Split, DO NOT visit Split Zoo, unless you’re a sadist – there is so much to see and do in Diocletian’s Palace, there are markets, ancient buildings and drinking and dancing at night *Split is the perfect relaxing vacation spot
*The city: Munich
5.Things you should see: Nymphenburg Palace, Haufbrahaus, BMW Mueseum
but ALSO: you must have a beer in a beer garden, visit an outdoor market, Eisbach, and walk around the olympic park.
-*-Munich is one of my favorite cities, it is breathtakingly beautiful, the food is delicious and there is SO Much to do
*The City: Dublin
6. Things you should see: St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Trinity College, Kilmainham Gaol
but ALSO: Temple Bar, The Guinness Storehouse, the Jameson Brewery… both tours of the Guinness and Jameson factories include drinks, you’re in Ireland come on now, drink up
*The city: Stockholm
7.Things you should see: Drottningholm Palace, Stockholm Palace
but ALSO: Djurgarden and Skansen: a residential area and island located a short boat ride from Stockholm with a farm, amusement park, zoo and other interesting surprises.
*The city: Brussels
8. Things you should see: The Atominium, The beer museum, The chocolate museum
but ALSO: mannequin pis, mini-europe – probably the coolest and cutest “museum” I have ever visited
*The city: Barcelona
9. Things you should see: Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, Picasso Museum
But also: the Gothic Quarter, basically anything and everything is beautiful in Barcelona, so I recommend definitely relaxing, drinking sangria on the beach and walking around and exploring after seeing the major sites
*The country: Italy
10. City: Venie: The Grand Canal, Ride in a Gondola AND a Vaperetto, St. Mark’s Square
City: Rome: The Colloseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps
but also… The Panthenon! This was the most impressive thing I have seen in Rome, and the catacombs
– and if you have time head over to Vatican City to see the Sistine Chapel, and on certain days you can try to attend mass with the pope, just check the vatican’s website for dates
The City: Athens
11. Things you should see: The Acropolis museum, the parthenon, Plaka
but also: try to escape the city of athens for a few nights and head over to the islands, if you take a ferry you can get the trip for pretty cheap, also go see the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Panathenaic Stadium, the theatre of Dionysus.. and just stay out of Omonoia Square. There is a lot to see in Athens, and perhaps I have been there too many times and take advantage of it but I’d rather just flee to the islands.
The City: Prague
12. Things you should see: The Astronomical Clock, Charles Bridge, Old town Square
but ALSO… Prague Castle, Josefov, Lennon Wall, Vysehrad, and Karlovy Lazne, the five-story nightclub is a perfect place to end your night after a few shots of absinthe.
