Spooky Season Destination List

I know I should have written this post earlier so that if anyone wanted a recommendations for this month, but the month is just about over so jot these down and maybe you can visit next year if you read of one that interests you!

  1. Salem, MA – I’m going to put the most obvious one first and (un) fortunately to TikTok everyone seems to know this lately. I have visited Salem years ago during September and more recently during October and in my opinion try to steer clear of Salem if you’re genuinely interested in Salem go another month but if you just want to go for the sake of it being October, be prepared for a crowd. Massachusetts is absolutely beautiful in the Fall. If you go in October I can’t promise you’ll get to see everything Salem has to offer, so if you are trying to go to the Witch museum, get a more personal visit with the memorial sites, and seated faster at the restaurants nearby.
  2. New Orleans, LA – Personally, my favorite city in the United States. Visit the cemeteries, have a purple drink and Lafitte’s, do a haunted tour. There is so much more to do that you can read about in a past post or the next post I publish which will be all of my favorite things to do in NOLA.
  3. Sleepy Hollow, NY – I have not got to visit yet but Sleepy Hallow looks absolutely gorgeous in the Fall. Explore the beautiful village and keep an eye out for the headless horseman.
  4. Savannah, Georgia – I haven’t had the opprotunity to visit Georgia in the Fall but it looks spectacular and spooky. There is pumpkin patches, ghost tours and yummy food.
  5. Transylvania, Romania – visit the OG Dracula’s fortress, Bran Castle!
  6. Orlando, FL – I have not visited Disneyworld during October but I hear they really deck it out, a fun option for family visits.
  7. St. Helens, Oregon – Visit Halloweentown!
  8. London, UK – there is so much haunted history in the UK and it’s quite easy to find in London, there are many haunted old pubs, tower of london, walking tours, and places where Sweeney Todd, Jack the Ripper, and other horrors of the past once walked.
  9. Isla de la Munecas, Mexico – the island of the dolls! This looks quite scary – too scary for my taste but if you’re into the paranormal, you may be interested in a visit.
  10. Dublin, Ireland – There are many haunted tours and spots in Dublin, pay a visit to Ireland, the home of the Celtic holiday Samhain.
  11. Los Angeles, California – Visit the infamous Cecil Hotel, go see Spawn Ranch, visit the American Horror Story house, Hollywood cemetery, The Queen Mary – there is so much haunted history in LA you may need a few days!
  12. Anoka, MN – Anoka calls itself the Halloween capital of the world. I’ve never visited but I would love to and decide if I truly agree with the label!
  13. Paris, France – there is so much spooky and haunted history in Paris – one specific spot I would recommend is the catacombs.
  14. Bangor, Maine – Stephen King’s inspo for the fictional town of Derry. Several spots around this city influenced the most talented horror writer’s works from IT to pet semetary. If you’re as big of a fan as I am then we have to visit the King of Halloween’s home town (someday).
  15. Illinois – the home to so many thriller movies: Halloween, Candyman, Child’s Play, and so many more. If the autumn weather holds up Illinois can be a nice place to spend the spooky season as well.
