Where to stay (or not stay IMO): We were only here for one night so we thought it didn’t really matter where we stayed – so we chose a hostel, the New Generation Milan. I’ve stayed at NG hostels before and wherever the others were (London, Germany, maybe one in Denmark?) they were nicer than this one. I would pass next time. (I’m also hoping there isn’t a next time since I was hoping I’d be over staying in hostels once I left my 20’s. Stay tuned.)

Transportation: depending on when you arrive in the city will really affect how you choose to get around, I would recommend by bus or shuttle. BUT if you arrive late at night like we did you will have to use taxi or Uber – which equates to like one hundred dollars to get to the city center. I can’t imagine what this was when the Euro was stronger. To get back to the airport we did take a bus which was very affordable and packed with school children who made the ride a nightmare but the cost made up for it.
What to do & see
Piazza del Duomo: The number one place you want to visit for all your Instagram validational needs, don’t forget Milan is the fashion capital of the world, and do as i did and wear an 11$ dress and dirty Vanz sneakers!
Milan Cathedral: Enjoy this beautiful cathedral from the inside or outside, there are plenty of patios and rooftop terraces to enjoy the view as well.
II Toro della Galleria: whether you have the cash to blow and want to explore these designer shops or are more of a saver and just want to window shop, the air conditioning really helped on this hot summer day.

Where to eat & drink
Biffano cafe: We left our hostel and walked over to Biffano cafe to grab some breakfast pastries and a coffee
Ristorante Galleria: We stopped here inside of the Galleria and ordered a pizza which we split in half and enjoyed with some sparkling water and aperol spritz’s for lunch.
Camparino in Galleria: We stopped here for some cocktail snack and a Campari spritz (My favorite, doesn’t have the sweetness of an Aperol Spritz) and enjoyed the people watching and the sites.
Terrazza Dumo: We did not go here but it looks really awesome with a great view of the cathedral
Papa Francesco: We had dinner here before catching our late night flight to Malta. The service was amazing and the food was so great! I unknowingly ordered a pasta dish that they brought out a huge cheese wheel and rolled the pasta in, all while singing and playing music.
We did only spend a little under 24-hours in Milan so we didn’t get to experience that much or fully immerse ourselves, but if you find yourself in Milan for the day, here are my recommendations, enjoy!
